Naritasan Shinshoji Temple – Chiba

Naritasan Shinshoji Temple is a temple of the Shingon sect Buddhist school in Narita city, Chiba prefecture. More than 10 million visitors come to there annually.

Naritasan Shinshoji Temle was founded in Tengyo 3 (940) by the great priest who is the grandson of Emperor Uda. Many historical buildings designated as an important cultural asset of the country are scattered in the precincts, and dignity is transmitted when seeing it.

Annual events are also diverse.

  • At Setsubun party on the day before springtime, Smo wrestlers and actors sow beans.
  • The Narita Gion Festival in July is a scene of early summer that boasts 300 years of history.
  • Festival of flower trees such as plum blossom festival, chrysanthemum flower event, autumn leaves festival and so on are also held.

The vibrant Omotesando is a tasteful street that lasts about 800 meters. Wooden old merchants arrange eaves, and nostalgia and familiarity come into the face of the city.
