Itsukushima Shrine known by the name of Miyajima is one of the most famous Shinto shrines in Japan known for its bold and original layout with ocean as its site and known for its beautiful architectural beauty in the Heian period( 794 to 1185 ) .
A red-colored shrine connected by a corridor seems to float on the sea when the tide fills up. The contrast between the green of Mount Misen and the Seto Inland Sea is beauty like a dragon castle of a Japanese fairy tale.
