Todaiji Temple – Nara

1998 It was registered as a World cultural heritage as one of the cultural assets of ancient Nara.

Todaiji is a temple in Nara city and is famous for the Great Buddha of Nara.
The Great Buddha of Nara is a feature of tourism, but it is also subject to worship of faith. The Buddha statue where the Great Buddha is settled is the world's largest as a wooden building.
Although it was erected as a Kokubunji temple, it has played a role like a university to train scholars until the Meiji period.
