Mount Asama is a composite volcano, and is on the border between Gunma and Nagano Prefectures. In Japanese, it is called "Asamayama". It is located about 9 km northwest of Karuizawa town.
The height is 2,568 meters, and this is one of the most active volcanoes in Japan.
