Walking in Karuizawa, there are many jam shops. Actually Karuizawa is the birthplace of Japan's jam. Its roots started when a lot of foreigners visited as a summer resort in the Meiji era, missionaries and Russians taught how to make jams. Currently, there is also a well established store for over 100 years.
