Koyasan is the head temple of Shingon sect in Wakayama prefecture.

There are more historical figures, lord of the whole country, tomb of the Daimyo, rare grave, monument tower. It is said that more than 60% of Sengoku Daimyo is buried in Okunoin.

It was  from the late Heian period to the Kamakura period that the approach path of Okunoin was built.  It is approximately 1.9 km from the entrance of "Ichiba-bashi" to "Gobyo". There are 200,000 graves and memorial towers along both sides of the approach.
